History of Farmers Insurance, CHSAA, and the Standout Student of the Month Program

Over the past 5 years, Farmers Insurance has been one of the largest supporters of the Colorado High School Activities Association (CHSAA), contributing hundreds of thousands of dollars to the organization. Over the past two years, the Farmers Insurance Agencies of Lucas Richmond and Jon Susa, along with many of the city’s supporting small businesses and Poudre School district have worked hard to extend this support directly to the Fort Collins community. Since it’s conception in 2010, the Standout Student of the Month program has brought the young leaders of the community to the forefront, providing them with the recognition they deserve as they set an example for classes to come.

The Schools

Each month, the Standout Student of the Month program sponsors two students from each school (one boy, one girl) to be their school’s ‘Standout Students of the Month’. The school selects these students based upon a wide amount of criteria ranging from academic excellence, extracurricular activities, community involvement, and commitment to community and student body.

The monthly winners from each school will then be entered into an online voting system where people can read biographies about each student, and place their vote for one boy and one girl to be the ‘ALL CITY STANDOUT STUDENT OF THE MONTH’. The All-City Standout Students of the Month are then recognized on the radio, newspaper and throughout their school and become eligible to win one of two scholarships at the end of the year.

The Standout Student of the Year Scholarship

In May, all winners of the All City Student of the Month will be reconsidered for the Fort Collins Student of the Year award. The selected students resubmit biographies and letters of recommendation for the review of a scholarship selection committee. The scholarship selection committee selects one boy and one girl to receive the award and scholarship.
